Simmering Bones
Close the page scented cookbook.
Feel the food,
Touch the sizzle.
Smell the animal's cries,
and don't blame the onion for that boil in your eyes.
Let no decorative plate ever taste as fine,
than that of the fruit's forbidden intent to preserve and
keep us alive.
A celebrity pot who smiles and stirs for a stain of glitter,
Will never equal the grandmother whose soul rose, in
time, between simmers.
